Credo

A bit of humor laced with some nuggets of value and meaning.

It started as a sort of tongue in cheek response to corporate culture regarding values and guiding principles. It’s so funny to me that corporations have these, as if they don’t have seedy undersides that go against what they outwardly portray. Capitalism. How can you say these are your values when you literally are imperialist and exploitative with your practices? But really there is something about having some core things that you abide by. We all have them. Whether it’s religious in nature or just not wanting to be a shitty human being, we have them. Unfortunately for some this is such a divisive thing… if you do not believe just a certain way, you are evil and the antithesis of all things good.

I don’t talk about my credo much these days, but I still have it and to some degree try to abide by it. Many of these principles I have heard my whole life from my parents. One or two of them are from my Grandpa Jones, my memories of him are larger than life. The rest are things I have picked up here and there. As you you browse them, understand that there is some nuance to a few of them that I understand and that isn’t overtly stated, so if something doesn’t make sense save your judgement. Also understand that I do not hold others to these principles, do what you want. Make your own credo, I couldn’t care less.
